Iran denies Israel's accusations of an attack on a tanker off the coast of Oman that killed two crew members last week.
"The Zionist regime creates fear, terror and violence. We condemn all accusations about Iran's involvement in this incident," said Iranian Foreign Ministry Spokesman, Saeed Khatibzadeh, as reported by Middle East Eye, Monday (2/8).
"Such unsubstantiated accusations are made by Israel to distract the world from the facts, and this is not the first time that they have accused Iran of such things," Khatibzadeh continued.
According to Khatibzadeh, the Iranian government will not hesitate to defend national interests and security.
"I heard Iran is cowardly trying to avoid responsibility for what happened, they deny it," Bennett told a cabinet meeting.
"I consider Iran to be the party that carried out the attack on the ship. Iran's attitude of frequent bullying is very dangerous not only to Israel but also to world interests, shipping and international trade," said Bennett.
Bennett claimed Israel had intelligence evidence and urged the international community to pressure Iran to admit they attacked the ship.
"We, in some ways, have other ways of getting the message out to Iran," Bennett said.
The Mercer Street tanker operated by Israeli company Ofer Group in the Arabian Sea off the coast of Oman killed two British and Romanian crew members.
The Liberian-flagged ship is operated by Israeli company Zodiac Maritime, owned by Israeli millionaire Eyal Ofer. The medium-sized tanker was attacked while en route to Fujairah, United Arab Emirates, from Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania.
